We are seeking a skilled and passionate Engineer to join our dynamic and expanding Mobile Engineering team. In this role, you will leverage your software engineering expertise to develop impactful features, resolve bugs, tackle technical debt, and continuously enhance our development processes. Your contributions will play a key role in delivering high-quality, valuable software experiences to our customers.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborating as part of a high-performing team to design and deliver clean, maintainable features.
  • Tackling end-to-end issues with a thoughtful understanding of multiple approaches, ensuring we deliver outstanding outcomes to our customers efficiently and effectively.
  • Actively managing and reducing technical debt to help maintain secure, resilient, and reliable systems across Legal & General’s technology landscape.
  • Enhancing and evolving testing strategies within the team to ensure a seamless customer experience, with a strong focus on security, usability, and accessibility.
  • Participating in code reviews with a comprehensive view of both functional and non-functional requirements—such as performance, maintainability, resiliency, and security—to uphold our commitment to building high-quality, safe software.
  • Driving continuous improvement in the team’s practices around security, quality, deployment, monitoring, and operations, enabling us to release and operate performant, resilient systems with confidence.
  • Engaging actively in team discussions and ceremonies, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Communicating effectively to support smooth and timely delivery of development work within each sprint.
  • Continuously growing your skills by undertaking relevant training in your role discipline.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a couple of years of hands-on experience, gained from either front-end or back-end development roles.
  • Deep expertise in React, with a strong grasp of its core principles and ecosystem.
  • Experience in developing RESTful microservices, using either JVM-based technologies or Node.js.
  • Solid understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and the testing pyramid, with practical experience applying these methodologies.
  • Familiar with Agile practices, particularly Scrum, and proficient in using Git, Git Flow, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, including web, API, and mobile application security.
  • Good understanding of mobile application architecture patterns, such as MVP, MVVM, and Flux.
  • Well-versed in clean code principles and clean architecture, with a focus on writing maintainable and scalable software.
