What you'll be doing
Join the Corporate Affairs Graduate Programme and gain the essential experience and skills to excel at L&G. You'll start with a cohort of graduates across the Group (Asset Management, Retail and Institutional Retirement) giving you insights into our business and helping you build a strong professional network.
Over a two-year programme, you'll rotate across four teams within Corporate Affairs:
- External communications
- Public Affairs & Policy
- Employee Communications
- Group Brand
In this full-time role, you'll receive on-the-job training and coaching from your line manager and the teams within which you work, enhancing your business acumen, learning a wide range of skills and gaining exposure to the broader Corporate Affairs function.
During the programme you will spend time in :
External Communications team : Our External Communications team amplifies L&G's work to the outside world, predominantly through the media. This supports growth, strengthens market confidence in our strategy, and encourages long-term value creation - all while protecting L&G's reputation. In this team, you will:
- Help share news with the press about our leaders, people, and business to drive confidence and investment/deal-flow
- Build, shape, maintain and protect L&G's reputation among shareholders, customers and partners
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists to help support our on-going communications programme across the business
- Help to produce written materials in the form of press releases, articles, case studies and more.
- Monitor the news agenda across key publications, help pitch L&G commentary where relevant and understand activity across the industry
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders across L&G Group to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment of priorities
- Support proactive advocacy to stakeholder groups that influence policymaking
- Keep internal stakeholders up-to-date on current policy issues and L&G's Group-wide stance on advocacy efforts
- Communicate L&G's policy positions to internal and external audiences
- Engage in activities to influence legislation and regulatory changes, while developing and advocating for L&G's public policy positions to government policymakers and public officials
- Defining our brand on every channel, to ensure that wherever people engage with us they get the same, consistent, positive experience.
- Making sure these channels are easy to use and navigable - be it online, on social media, or beyond
- Produce content and materials for key events and publications - including our full and half-year results
- Governing and protecting the brand to ensure it's represented correctly to internal and external audiences
- Inform and educate our people about our purpose, strategy and focus areas
- Provide an understanding of why those aims exist and how we achieve them together
- Strengthen our culture by embedding our company behaviours in the everyday
- Recognise our achievements and milestones, showcase our brilliant talent, and highlight the breadth of opportunities at L&G
- Update employees on news both big and small - from new tech and office spaces to policy changes

- 2.1 Degree in any subject - we are open to all subject backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to express complex issues succinctly and clearly - this is essential.
- High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
- Team player, with a strong work ethic, who takes a collaborative and joined-up approach to tasks
- Organised and detail-orientated, with the ability to prioritise effectively, multi-task efficiently and adapt to new situations in a fast-paced environment.
