In this role, you’ll help ensure accurate financial processing, strong controls, and insightful reporting that supports our business partners and contributes to excellent customer outcomes. If you enjoy developing people, improving processes, and working in a fast‑paced environment, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team to deliver high‑quality results aligned to company policies
  • Overseeing daily processing activities, including journal preparation and posting in line with Finance Central Services timetables
  • Reviewing and authorising daily box processing and fund dealing activity
  • Delivering accurate reconciliations and ensuring timely investigation and clearance of outstanding items
  • Preparing monthly financial and management accounts, including balance sheet, revenue, tax and regulatory reporting
  • Maintaining and monitoring financial controls in line with Group Standards, statutory requirements and audit expectations
  • Identifying and progressing system and process improvement opportunities, including supporting project testing
  • Ensuring appropriate MI, processes and systems are in place to meet Customer Experience and Consumer Duty requirements

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

  • Part‑qualified or newly qualified accountant, or experienced finance professional
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with Power Query is an advantage
  • Experience using core accounting systems, performing ledger postings and delivering reconciliations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review work, spot inconsistencies and propose improvements
  • Confident communicator, able to work with colleagues across the business and lead effective meetings
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort working to tight deadlines
  • Proven people management experience, with the ability to support, motivate and guide team members
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, build strong relationships and act as a trusted business partner

Benefits

The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance‑related bonus plan and valuable share schemes. Generous pension contribution. Life assurance. Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only). At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday. Competitive family leave. Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand‑new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only). There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online. In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart.

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all. If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel. We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can. It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert.
