Programme length: Two years
At Legal & General, we want all employees to feel fulfilled in their work and excited about being part of Legal & General’s story. The HR function is central to enabling and delivering this culture, supporting leaders, line managers and employees to ensure people-related elements of the organisation’s strategy are executed. During the 2-year programme you will develop your professional network and expand on your skills through a structured learning and development programme, before rolling off onto a permanent role within one of our teams.
Some of the day-to-day activities could include:
- Support the design & implementation of the Group’s end-to-end psychometric assessment strategy & approach
- Develop, implement or evaluate employee selection procedures, including psychometric tests, situational judgement questionnaires, assessment centres and structured interviews
- Support the development of talent management processes and systems so the organisation can identify and develop their high potentials
- Analyse data to inform on people trends and development needs, identifying skills and behavioural gaps and consider how to address those gaps
- Scope business need and support in the development and delivery of relevant and impactful interventions
- Support the design and delivery of leadership development interventions, including assisting in the delivery of leadership team sessions across the business
- Conduct appropriate studies to demonstrate the business impact of assessments
- Develop creative and impactful ways to support our D&I ambitions
- Develop your coaching and facilitation skills while assisting in the delivery of our team development & strategy sessions
- Responding directly to employee and line manager queries, ensuring an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee life cycle
- Supporting HR projects, including Legal & General’s HR Transformation programme
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to HR processes, ways of working and technology
Qualifications

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- An MSc Occupational Organisational Psychology or MSc Organisational Psychiatry & Psychology is essential
- 2:1 Degree in psychology or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible and a team-player
- Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
- An analytical mind with a good understanding of basic data analysis approaches
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
The role will be based in London and will involve a flexible working approach whereby you split your time between working from home and the office. It will also involve some travel across our core hubs in Cardiff and Hove.
