In this role you will help grow and optimize our Structured Credit and Mortgage assets within Institutional Retirement. You’ll collaborate across teams to strengthen the investment framework and deliver sustainable value for customers. You will manage risk, monitor asset manager performance, and drive strategic transactions with internal and external stakeholders. The role focuses on risk-aware portfolio construction and enhanced returns, aligned with our responsible, inclusive culture. Responsibilities
- Expand opportunities in structured credit to diversify the portfolio
- Manage the structured credit portfolio, defining market risks and risk appetites
- Oversee asset manager performance and ensure activity aligns with mandates and risk appetite
- Develop and enhance the investment framework to maximise risk-adjusted returns
- Lead strategic transaction execution and coordinate with stakeholders for implementation and monitoring
- Collaborate with Investments and Asset Management teams to strengthen relationships and delivery quality
- Operate within mandates and risk limits, embedding Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty in daily activities
- Contribute to strategic initiatives to broaden presence in structured credit and securitised assets
Key requirements
- Degree in quantitative, finance or management-related subject (or equivalent experience)
- CFA progress an advantage
- Experience investing in or executing transactions across Fund Finance, Consumer, Residential, Data Centres or SME asset classes
- Knowledge of structuring, modelling, legal processes and rating agency considerations in structured credit
- Understanding of insurance balance sheet mechanics, portfolio construction and relative value assessment
- Buy-side or sell-side experience in relevant asset classes, ideally within an investment bank or asset manager
- Ability to build and use complex financial models to support underwriting and investment decisions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative and solutions-focused
- Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of C++ beneficial
