Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of HR to partner with the Group COO and their leadership team to develop, implement and embed a people strategy which supports the delivery of the business vision and objectives. To lead on strategic HR initiatives and projects that contribute to this, actively collaborating with business sponsors and cross-functional teams. This role will work in partnership with the wider HR Function in the design and delivery of people solutions to drive a consistent and cohesive culture and optimise organisational effectiveness at a Group level.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with the Group COO and leadership team, providing proactive support and challenge on all aspects of people and organisation development that contribute to the strategic goals of the business.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and drive the development and implementation of the overall HR strategy, leading people programme projects when appropriate/necessary.
- Understand the business, commercially, culturally and strategically in order to develop and embed improvement across employee engagement, development, diversity and inclusion, talent and succession planning, L&D, performance management and resource planning.
- Work with the Group COO and business leaders to shape the culture (in line with L&G organisational purpose, values and behaviours) and ensure these are brought to life within the business and are meaningful to all Group COO teams/individuals. Support the business in building an ambitious, dynamic, agile and collaborative place to work.
- Ensure the business can attract, develop and retain the best people in the market. Build workforce plans which include resource, structure and capability considerations to support business growth and delivery.
- Lead the annual cycle of people activity, including pay review; performance calibration and Voice survey.
- Take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise business performance.
- Define, develop and deliver a strategy that enables the business to maintain access to suitable trained and competent staff and is aligned to Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customer Fairly policy.

- Broad knowledge across all core HR disciplines.
- Experience of leading organisational change with a focus on talent management, organisation design and culture change.
- Proven skills in implementing HR strategies aligned to business goals.
- A credible track record of success in delivering engagement, resourcing, development and OD strategies which have impacted positively on the organisation.
- Capability to source, gather, analyse and interpret business focused HR data to enable effective decision making.
- Influencing senior leadership teams on HR matters and linking this to business strategy.
- Understanding of people development methodologies and current best practice.
