Our services include bespoke and online insurance for both standard and complex risks tailored to the needs of solicitors, brokers, developers and lenders. In addition, we deliver specialist real estate insurance that protects financial interests and legal obligations for single-location and multinational portfolios, as well as Trust & Probate insurance, designed to address issues arising in estate administration and the distribution of trusts.
About the role: This is a new underwriting position, joining our existing specialist team, to provide a professional and compliant legal indemnity underwriting service to all clients, current and prospective, with the intention of providing quotations and policies to meet business income and profit targets.
Key accountabilities:
- Conduct a thorough analysis of risks to ensure they are appropriate for the business, by assessing whether the risk is acceptable within the parameters and guidelines agreed with the insurer.
- Determine the level of premium for which to accept the risk on behalf of the insurer to generate income and profit for the company.
- Ensure the acceptability of a risk is always considered in line with company guidelines, procedures and processes.
- Determine correct pricing based on financial and competition analysis, and in line with compliance requirements, providing appropriate and justifiable quotations for risks.
- Act strictly within the personal authority issued by the company from time to time.
- Keep up to date with legal and regulatory changes.
- Keep the necessary stakeholders advised of progress on underwriting of risks as necessary to provide excellent customer service.
- Liaise with clients by email and phone, responding to requests and queries as a matter of priority, with the aim of progressing risks to quotation.
- Strive to continue to develop knowledge, comprehension and application of legal indemnity & related products, property law and conveyancing procedure, insurance law, rules and procedures.
- Ensure cover notes and policies are issued correctly and in a timely manner, in line with company policies and guidelines and in line with service levels expected.
What you will bring:

- Good levels of numeracy and literacy, with an attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to analyse complex information and draw out relevant facts
- Good interpersonal skills, flexible to work with a range of styles and personalities according to business demands
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills
- Positive “can do” attitude
