Job Description
We’re hiring a Trader to join L&G Asset Management’s London-based Equity & FX trading team within the Global Trading & Liquidity Management Team. This role offers the chance to work on a dynamic global trading desk, focusing on executing equity trades, including cash, OTC, and exchange-traded derivatives. This is an execution role with significant interaction with portfolio managers and counterparties. Over time, you will expand your expertise to other asset classes covered by the team. This position is full-time, office-based, with a flexible working pattern based on business needs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing and monitoring execution of Equity, FX, listed, and OTC derivatives trades, ensuring compliance with client, legal, regulatory, and risk management standards.
- Analyzing market data to develop trading strategies and optimize counterparty choice, using transaction cost analysis to improve outcomes.
- Providing market commentary, feedback, and advice to investment teams on traded and open positions.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
- Collaborating with global trading teams in Hong Kong and Chicago.
- Partnering with the Trading Research team to analyze large trading data sets to enhance execution tools and client results.
- Contributing to process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Gaining proficiency across all asset classes traded by the team.
Qualifications

Education & Background
- Strong academic background; professional certifications like CFA/IMC are advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent performance in quantitative subjects.
Skills & Knowledge
- Experience in executing cash equities at buy-side or sell-side firms, with a solid understanding of financial instruments, markets, and trading mechanics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen interest in financial markets.
- Experience with trading applications such as OMS and EMS.
- Problem-solving skills and data-driven decision-making ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team collaboration experience.
- Proficiency in Python or other programming languages is desirable.
