JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary objectives for the GP Referral Fitness Instructor will be:
- To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everybody using the GP referral programme.
- To promote the programme with local health professionals and Parkwood Healthcare.
- To promote excellence of customer service and motivate people to enjoy exercise through good communication and selling skills.
- To take responsibility for all aspects of the daily operation of the health and fitness facilities.
- To drive the Expressions brand and specifically adhere to all operational and sales procedures.
- To analyse statistics from the GP referral programme in order to evaluate the success of the scheme.
- To maintain your professional qualification and to attend and complete any relevant CPDs or further qualifications requested by management to help develop the GP referral scheme.
The GP Referral Fitness Instructor will focus day to day on the following tasks:
- To support, develop and maintain the Steps To Health programme.
- To manage the GP Referral bookings, Legend appointments, and referrals to help the programme to grow.
- To undertake Inductions, Fitness Assessments and Personal Programmes in accordance with the Expressions brand.
- To be aware of all Health and Safety issues within the centre, and specifically the fitness and health facility, and to constantly implement and assess procedures, drawing attention to unsafe practices.
- To guide, care for and assist all fitness users especially in areas of motivation, well-being, nutrition, and fitness testing.
- To work as part of a team to achieve income and sales targets for the fitness and health facility ensuring that all reports and deadlines are met.
- To take responsibility for ensuring the health and fitness facilities are clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
- To undertake maintenance work as required.
- To make sure all equipment and facilities are safe and secure when not in use.
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications
The post holder will preferably hold a YMCA qualification or equivalent in a Leisure related subject. In addition an exercise referral qualification and phase VI cardiac rehabilitation qualification would be desirable.

DBS
The position of GP Referral Fitness Instructor is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the post holder to be submitted for a DBS check.
