Casual Maintenance Technician

Legacy Leisure is a not for profit charitable organisation, committed to providing a diverse and meaningful range of leisure and culture related activities for the local community. We are looking to appoint a key member of the team across the contract, located in Eastern Derbyshire, which includes West Park Leisure Centre, Rutland Sports Park, and Victoria Park.

The successful candidate will be required to support the maintenance technician across the leisure centres, including travel between the other 3 centres for any remedial maintenance requirements. Good communication skills will be required to prioritise tasks with Centre Managers across the sites. The candidate must be flexible and have proven basic DIY trade skills such as painting & decorating, grouting & tiling, along with minor repair work to equipment and building fabric. They must also clearly identify and meet the requirements of Legacy Leisure customers and ensure that Health & Safety regulations are followed at all times.

Primary Objectives for the Maintenance Technician Position:

• Responsible for undertaking minor repairs and maintenance issues at the 3 leisure buildings.
• Liaising with all contractors on sites carrying out any repair/maintenance work.
• Coordinating all reactive maintenance across the three centres.
• Assisting in the management of the Leisure Centre's quality assurance systems and procedures.
• Undertaking any regulatory requirements.
• Assisting in managing the facilities planned maintenance system.
• Maintaining the operation of the buildings and equipment at all leisure centres.
• Liaising daily with the Centre/Duty managers to ensure any technical issues are overcome as a priority.
• Carrying out any other duties as may be required by the Centre/Site Manager to ensure that the business objectives of the contract are achieved.
• Engendering a sense of pride in the company and maintaining a professional attitude.
• Assisting in the development of a good working relationship between colleagues, the client, and customers.
• Carrying out operations in compliance with Health & Safety Procedures.

The Candidate Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

It will be desirable that the postholder has experience of maintenance, plant & equipment and an understanding of Health & Safety specific to the post. The successful candidate will preferably have knowledge & skills in the Leisure or a related industry in a small/medium sized enterprise. An electrical qualification would be advantageous. The candidate will preferably hold GCSEs including Maths and English Grade C or above, or a similar qualification. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate administrative abilities, although full training will be given.

The position is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the postholder to be submitted for a DBS check.
