Legacy Ironworks Ltd is looking for an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join our workshop team. We specialise in high-quality architectural and bespoke metalwork, working on a range of projects including railings, balustrades, gates, handrails and other fabricated metalwork.
We are looking for someone who is confident working independently from drawings and can produce accurate, high-quality work from initial cutting and preparation through to fabrication, welding and final installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication of railings, balustrades, gates, handrails and other architectural metalwork
- MIG welding and general fabrication
- Cutting, drilling, grinding, linishing and preparation of steel
- Accurate measuring, marking out and setting out of components
- Competent use of workshop machinery and fabrication equipment
- Reading and working accurately from fabrication and technical drawings
- Checking dimensions and quality throughout manufacture
- Producing work to a high standard of finish and accuracy
- Assisting with site installation of completed metalwork
- Drilling and fixing into steel, masonry and other substrates on site
- Working safely both within the workshop and on construction sites
- Taking responsibility for maintaining a clean and organised working area
Essential Experience & Skills
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience as a metal fabricator/welder
- Proven experience manufacturing railings and balustrades
- Good MIG welding ability
- Strong general fabrication and machining skills
- Experience cutting, drilling, grinding and finishing steel
- Ability to confidently read and understand fabrication drawings
- Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances and accurate setting out
- Experience carrying out site installations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished work
- Good understanding of workshop and site health and safety
- Experience within architectural, structural or bespoke metalwork would be particularly beneficial.
- MMA/Stick and/or TIG welding experience
- Experience working with stainless steel, brass or other non-ferrous metals
- Experience with heritage or traditional metalwork
- CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
The Role
This is primarily a workshop-based position, although the role will also involve travelling to sites for installation when required.
We are looking for someone who can become a reliable part of our fabrication team as the company continues to grow. The right person will be expected to work to a high standard, take ownership of their work and be comfortable producing bespoke items rather than repetitive production work.
