Lerwick Engineering and Fabrication are looking for a Vehicle/Plant Mechanic to join our team at our Greenhead base in Lerwick. This role will involve working within a dynamic team to service, maintain, and perform safety checks on a variety of vehicles and plant equipment across several industry sectors.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and safety checks on vehicles and plant equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure the safe operation of machinery.
- Carry out regular inspections and log vehicle/plant condition and performance.
- Collaborate with operations teams and provide technical support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs and safety inspections, using relevant software systems.
- Maintain documentation to meet safety, quality, compliance, and legislative requirements.
- Assume other duties as needed to support team objectives and personal career growth.
- Be available for overtime or shift work as required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in vehicle and plant equipment maintenance and inspections.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Customer‑focused with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Computer and IT literate, with the ability to use diagnostic and maintenance software.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
- UK driving licence.
