The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Operations Manager to oversee the safe, compliant and efficient running of Leep Utilities’ assets. This role is responsible for managing on-site contractors and ensuring all operational activity meets required standards. You will set up, monitor and review contracts, ensuring guaranteed service levels and key performance indicators are achieved. The role also includes reporting performance and issues to Director level and ensuring operational practices support the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others affected by your actions or omissions.
  • Embody and promote Leep Utilities’ core values in all decisions and behaviours, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements as required.
  • Deliver activities in line with the department’s ToA and RACI matrix.
  • Use current templates, ensure accurate documentation, and store records correctly.
  • Understand and implement regulatory and contractual obligations across the portfolio.
  • Support the UK Electric Operations Manager with site operations and maintenance.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of High and Low Voltage networks.
  • Oversee financial processes, including purchase orders, invoicing, and budget management.
  • Review and tender operational contracts as required.
  • Ensure contractor management processes are effective and followed.
  • Maintain asset and operational compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Work with delivery teams to ensure new assets are handed over with complete and adoptable records.
  • Ensure adequate site inspections and contractor performance checks.
  • Maintain high standards of H&S, quality, and environmental compliance for subcontracted services.
  • Participate in the electrical or Control Engineer on-call rota.

About You

  • Strong knowledge of the utilities sector and its regulatory framework.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining electrical networks.
  • Proven ability to manage utility contractors with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of HV/LV network operations, maintenance, and asset management.
  • Solid grasp of H&S systems and audit processes.
  • Familiar with electricity sector regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient with operational IT systems, reporting tools, and documentation.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Effective communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and related audits.
  • Demonstrated leadership of teams, contractors, and operational staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
