The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on UK Operations Manager (Electric) to take charge of our high- and low‑voltage electrical networks across the country. In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations, planned maintenance, contractor performance and the delivery of reliable network services that keep our customers connected.
You’ll set the strategic direction for our electrical operations - shaping asset management practices, driving compliance, managing contracts and ensuring that all activity meets industry best practice, technical standards and regulatory requirements. Clear, insightful reporting will also be a core part of your role, helping to demonstrate performance and the ongoing effectiveness of our maintenance programmes.
As the leader of our national electrical operations team, you’ll manage and develop colleagues to operate safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards. This role also forms part of the LV Control Engineer on‑call rota, providing support during callouts as well as covering holidays and absences.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all activities comply with the department’s ToA, RACI matrix, and current document standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, escalate issues appropriately, and produce timely performance and regulatory reports.
- Schedule, document, and evidence all maintenance and condition monitoring activities to meet technical, statutory, and licence requirements.
- Be fully responsible for the ownership of the Electrical asset register; ensuring any amendments and additions are carried out in timely manner.
- Oversee new asset handovers/adoptions, ensuring all required information meets adoptable standards.
- Maintain complete ownership of the electrical out of hours call rota scheduling, preparedness and the associated supporting infrastructure.
- Implement emergency procedures for all Leep adopted electrical sites nationwide.
- Develop and manage SLAs and KPIs for service providers; provide monthly performance reporting.
- Support the control Engineer functions by participation in call out rotas, cover in absences and emergencies.
- Select, onboard, and manage contractors, ensuring clear instructions, PO compliance, and performance monitoring.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and technical compliance.
- Own the tendering and review of operational contracts.
- Lead and support the national Electrical Operations team, promoting compliance, improvement, and company values.
- Maintain accountability for the production and oversight of the Electrical Operational budget. Track and monitor CAPEX and OPEX spend ensuring live assets are being managed in the most cost efficient manner.
- Work with Project Delivery to ensure complete and accurate asset handovers.
- Provide technical input to Sales and operational support to the Director of Operations.
About You
- Strong understanding of the utilities sector and its regulatory environment.
- Proven experience managing utility contractors with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
- In depth knowledge of HV/LV network operations, maintenance, and asset management.
- Solid understanding of H&S and Quality Management Systems, including audit processes.
- Familiar with electricity sector regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in IT systems for reporting, analysis, and documentation.
- Highly adaptable, proactive learner who performs well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build effective professional relationships.
- Experienced in leading teams, contractors, and operational personnel.
