The predicted salary is between 37338 - 44962 £ per year.

Main duties of the job:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
  • The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead.
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA).

  • Develop positive and professional working relationships with colleagues.

Confidentiality:

  • In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
  • All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.
  • Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the PCN may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the PCN policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

Data Protection – GDPR:

  • All employees must adhere to the PCN Policy on the Protection and use of Personal Information.
  • The post-holder will be responsible for adopting the risk management culture and ensuring that they identify and assess all risks to the systems, processes and environment and report such risks for inclusion within the PCN risk register.
  • Attend mandatory and statutory training, report all incidents/accidents, including near misses, and report unsafe occurrences.

Personal/Professional Development:

  • The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Network as part of this employment.
  • Participation in an annual individual Appraisal and Development Review.
  • Taking responsibility for own development, learning, and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others.

Quality:

  • The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the PCN.
  • Alert other PCN Team members to issues of quality and risk.
  • Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
  • Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs.
  • Effectively manage own time, workload and resources.

Communication:

  • The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, patients and carers.
  • External communication will be with patients, NHS bodies, and other GP practices and service providers.
