Senior Researcher – The London Assembly Labour Group
About the role
As part of the Policy Team you will support Labour Assembly Members in the Housing and Environment portfolios by researching policy and providing briefings.
Location: City Hall, Royal Docks, Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE.
Day‑to‑day duties
- Update Assembly Members on policy developments in Housing and Environment.
- Discuss committee papers, Mayor questions and upcoming policy issues with Assembly Members.
- Conduct research using datasets and produce briefings.
- Engage with external stakeholders in housing and environment sectors.
- Provide policy solutions and advice on procedural and political matters.
Skills, knowledge and experience
- Demonstrable research skills and experience of policy briefing in a political or public‑sector organisation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; experience of producing documents for varied audiences and media briefings.
- Experience working directly with influential people in a pressured environment and handling confidential issues.
- Knowledge of media handling techniques and creating communications plans for elected politicians.
- Proficiency with communication technologies, including design or commissioning leaflets, newsletters and other materials.
