An exciting opportunity has arisen at Leeds West Academy for a dedicated and proactive professional to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. This is a highly rewarding position at the heart of our academy community, ensuring that everyone on site receives exceptional care and support.

Health & Safety and First Aid Lead – Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality health and safety service across key areas of Health & Safety.
  • Process risk assessments and coordinate Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs).
  • Assess medical and dietary needs and lead the academy's medical and first aid provision.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, student representatives and external partners to ensure students' individual needs are fully supported.
  • Contribute to the development and administration of policies and procedures underpinning student welfare.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Strong knowledge and relevant experience in health, safety, and first aid within a school or comparable setting.
  • A calm, professional and caring approach; effective team player with courtesy, compassion and professionalism in interactions with pupils, colleagues and parents.
  • Experience in a school environment would be an advantage.
