What You'll Be Doing: We are seeking an experienced Youth Hub mentor to support a new Youth Hub Leeds United Foundation are launching in partnership with DWP. The suitable candidate will have strong networking skills with local partners and employers to achieve the outcomes of the contract.
Key Purpose: The suitable candidate will be someone with:
- A successful track record of working and supporting people in both 1:1 mentoring and group sessions.
- Experience of supporting customers to improve their CV, interview skills as well as supporting them to overcome barriers to employment.
- Experience of working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals (e.g. health, social care).
- Highly developed influencing skills to persuade learners, parents, colleagues, and external agencies to adopt particular courses of action.
- Passionate about supporting young people in their journey to employment.
Key Responsibilities: We are seeking 2 individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to develop skills and confidence on their journey to employment. The post holder will be responsible for delivering the Youth Hub at Leeds United Stadium. The hub will provide opportunities for referred unemployed young people in Leeds to access support, training and skill boosting sessions to support them on their next steps to employment. Additionally, you will provide opportunities and support for unemployed young people in Leeds to find employment, education or training. You will be required to work effectively with local employers and partners including the job centre.
What We're Looking For: We're looking for someone proactive, personable, and who thrives in a busy environment. You'll ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3
- Safeguarding (Can be delivered after appointment)
- Hold current Enhanced DBS Certificate.
- Outstanding attendance over the last two years whilst in the workplace.
- Previous community-based experience working with young people in a community setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting young people accessing/gaining employment.
- Knowledge of agencies that can provide further support for young people.
- A can-do attitude with evidence of leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate others to reach their full potential.
- Able to manage groups of young people with challenging behaviour.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High standard of IT skills.
