What You’ll Be Doing

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Veterans’ Wellbeing & Support Co-ordinator to lead and develop Leeds United Foundation’s veterans’ provision. This role will focus on improving veterans’ physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection, sense of purpose, and access to specialist support services. Working closely with veterans, partner organisations, charities, and community stakeholders, you will deliver impactful programmes, provide one-to-one support, and help strengthen support networks across Leeds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Delivery
    • Plan, deliver, and evaluate weekly wellbeing sessions for veterans.
    • Coordinate fortnightly mental health and peer support activities.
    • Deliver monthly advice and support drop-in sessions alongside partner organisations.
    • Support the delivery of the Foundation’s Veterans’ Breakfast Club.
    • Develop new opportunities that improve health, wellbeing, and community engagement.
  • Case Management & Support
    • Provide one-to-one support for veterans with complex needs.
    • Assist veterans in accessing services including healthcare, housing, benefits, employment, and specialist support.
    • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and referral pathways.
    • Assess individual needs and signpost participants to appropriate services.
  • Partnership Development
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Armed Forces charities, community organisations, and public services.
    • Develop effective referral pathways to improve support for veterans.
    • Raise awareness of veterans’ issues and available support across the Leeds community.
    • Represent Leeds United Foundation at veteran-focused meetings and forums.
  • Volunteer & Peer Mentor Coordination
    • Recruit, support, and develop veteran volunteers.
    • Coordinate peer support opportunities to enhance programme sustainability.
    • Work alongside colleagues to create meaningful volunteering pathways.
  • Monitoring & Reporting
    • Collect programme data and evidence of impact.
    • Produce reports, case studies, and monitoring information for funders and stakeholders.
    • Contribute to programme evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Events & Community Engagement
    • Organise social events, wellbeing activities, awareness campaigns, and community initiatives.
    • Represent Leeds United Foundation at Armed Forces and community events.
    • Promote positive engagement and social connection among veterans.

What We’re Looking For

  • A relevant qualification in health, wellbeing, social care, community development, counselling, youth/community work, or equivalent experience.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable adults.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Leeds when required.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • A compassionate, professional, and person-centred approach.
  • Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders and partner organisations.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, safeguarding, GDPR, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.

Experience

  • Delivering wellbeing, health, community engagement, or support programmes.
  • Providing one-to-one support, case management, or key worker support to individuals with complex needs.
  • Working with veterans, serving personnel, military families, or other vulnerable groups.
  • Developing partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and community organisations.
  • Coordinating volunteers and/or peer mentors.
  • Organising events, workshops, and community-based activities.
  • Monitoring outcomes, collecting data, and producing reports for funders and stakeholders.
  • Working within safeguarding procedures and maintaining confidential records.
