What You’ll Be Doing
We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and engaging Sports Engagement Coach to support the delivery and growth of participation programmes across Yorkshire.
This role is ideal for an individual who is enthusiastic about using sport to positively impact communities, increase participation, and inspire children and young people to lead active lifestyles.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, a strong team player, and someone who enjoys building relationships with local partners, schools, clubs, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging sports and physical activity programmes across a range of community settings.
- Recruit new participants to Leeds United Foundation programmes.
- Support the achievement of programme KPIs and participation targets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, grassroots clubs, leagues, schools, and partner organisations.
- Manage project communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records.
- Monitor programme delivery and identify solutions to challenges that arise.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and implementation.
- Participate in project design meetings and contribute ideas for programme improvements.
- Manage and support a team of coaching staff.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with safeguarding, health & safety, and equality, diversity and inclusion policies.
- Represent Leeds United Foundation professionally at all times.
- Undertake relevant training and continuous professional development opportunities.
- What We’re Looking For
You’ll have
- Relevant coaching qualifications and/or a sports-related degree.
- Updated FA workshop certifications.
- Knowledge of safeguarding within football and community sport.
- Knowledge of risk assessments and health & safety procedures.
- Understanding of basic first aid within a sporting environment.
- Five GCSEs including Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional and proactive approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Experience
- Experience delivering sports coaching sessions.
- Experience engaging children and young people through sport.
- Experience working within community sport, education, or football environments.
- Experience building relationships with local clubs, schools, and community organisations.
- Experience supporting, coordinating, or managing sports programmes.
- Experience working towards programme targets and performance indicators.
