We are seeking to appoint a Support Worker for a visually impaired Senior Lecturer in Linguistics. The Senior Lecturer teaches a range of modules using face-to-face and online approaches, along with research work. The Support Worker is required to perform teaching related administrative tasks along with attending meetings and undertaking training. In all of these tasks, and in supporting the lecturer’s research, visual support is needed such as verbal description or reading, help with accessing software and online university systems, and to undertake any visual tasks that requires support. In addition, specific help is required to ensure that books and journal articles are accessible to the lecturer.
The successful candidate will have strong proven administrative skills and experience, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be able to follow instructions carefully and you will demonstrate great attention to detail. You will be able to work with the lecturer in a close professional relationship and also assist him in communication and interaction with students and colleagues. You will also be able to demonstrate good IT skills, the ability to learn new skills, and the ability to manage your time in consultation with the lecturer. A positive and proactive outlook is essential, and experience of Higher Education administration and practices would be an advantage.
This role is currently fixed term initially until 5 th August 2028, however there is an expectation, although no guarantee, that subject to funding this may be extended further
