Trust Doctor (ST1/2) in the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The post will commence from August 2026 and is a fixed term of 6 months initially, with potential for extension. There are 4 posts in total.
Responsibilities:
- Full‑time post with on‑call duties, primarily based at Leeds General Infirmary.
- Ideal for trainees committed to plastic surgery to gain further experience before core/higher surgical training.
- The department offers a wide range of specialist plastic and reconstructive surgery and has an international reputation for innovation and high‑quality patient care.
- Service areas include a comprehensive hand and upper limb service (congenital hand, adult hand and brachial plexus surgery), head and neck surgery, craniofacial surgery, sarcoma, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and lower limb reconstruction.
- Consultants also participate in the management of general plastic surgery acute and elective cases.
Requirements:
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practice by the intended start date.
- This post is full time with on calls, primarily based at Leeds General Infirmary.
Preferred experience and interests:
- This post would also suit candidates who wish to learn the techniques of wound care and soft tissue handling ahead of progressing to a career in surgery or in medical specialties such as dermatology, general practice or emergency medicine.
- Previous experience in plastic surgery is not essential and the successful candidate would be encouraged to pursue an area of interest within the department.
