Are you looking for an exciting and challenging role in nephrology and renal transplantation which will improve the pharmaceutical care provided to renal patients in both in-patient and out-patient settings? Due to the current postholder undertaking a secondment we have an opportunity for a suitable pharmacist to join our team for 1 year from August 26.

Main duties of the job:

  • Based at St James's University Hospital you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Our specialist renal pharmacists and renal pharmacy technicians are integral to the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • The successful post holder will contribute to significant developments and innovative strategies to improve the pharmacy services experienced by our patients and other service users.
  • Supported by our team of renal pharmacists and technicians, you will have the chance to develop your ambitions in the field of renal medicine and transplantation as we support you to develop as an expert pharmacist.
  • There are numerous opportunities for development including contributing to outpatient clinic development, clinical guideline review, quality improvement streams and progression of renal knowledge.

Job responsibilities:

The LTHT Renal service provides high quality care for the population of Leeds and the surrounding areas as one of the largest regional, specialised services for pre-dialysis, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The Leeds Renal Department is also the regional centre for kidney transplantation and performs around 200 transplants per year.

Our renal pharmacy team now support the prescribing of all post-discharge renal transplant immunosuppression medication for LTHT patients. We are involved with the care of patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and are currently setting up pharmacist led renal transplant clinics.

As a team we are passionate about improving our patients' experience of the service and look forward to working with people with the same passion.
