Main duties of the job
Thisis a varied role working across both Aseptic Units (SJUH and LGI).
Theday-to-day running of the department, managing workflow, managing the rotaand ensuring the service runs efficiently is the main duty of this role
Otheraspects of the role include preparing the variety of IV medicines we produce,supervising this production, working in our outer or inner support areas andalso ensuring a sterile environment is maintained within the Aseptic Units byfollowing a stringent cleaning and monitoring schedule.

Job responsibilities
Workingas an experienced qualified Science Manufacturing Technician the post holderwill contribute to the efficient delivery of the Pharmaceutical Service topatients, wards and departments both within the Trust and to other healthcareorganisations.
Workingunder guidance of SOPs, GMP, COSHH, the post holder will:-
Asepticallymanufacture and issue medicines to patients ensuring that all the necessaryinformation is available.
Asepticallymanufacture clinical trial medication and complete all required documentationfollowing the defined Standard Operating Procedures.
Asepticallymanufacture specialist hospital-only medicines and unlicensed medicines whichrequire accurate, detailed records.
Dispensecontrolled drugs and ensure that all legally required records are accurateand up to date.
Ensurethat all information needed for accurate stock control and prescriptionissues data is recorded, using them to aseptically manufacture products.
Carryout pre and in-processing checking within Preparative Services
Liaisewith Procurement staff about urgently required medicines, and informingpatients and other health care staff about supply problems / delays
Ensurethat all information needed for accurate stock control is recorded using theappropriate paper or electronic system.
Answerqueries from nurses and other healthcare professional, within limit ofauthority referring where required.
Promotegood communications between Pharmacy and Ward staff to ensure a safe,efficient and cost-effective medicines service.
Assistin the training of all Preparative Services staff, Pre-registrationTechnicians, Technicians, Pharmacy Support Workers and pre-registrationPharmacists.
Participatein recruitment and selection of junior technical staff
Prioritiseworkload and analyse situations to resolve problems
Deputisefor the Specialist Technicians in their absence and supervise the work ofPharmacy Technicians, Pre-Registration Technicians and Pharmacy ServiceAssistants by maintaining standards of service, ensuring completion of allspecified documentation and briefing staff to inform them of any changes inworking practice
Identifyown development and training needs and keep up to date with all nationalcodes of practice, standards, and relevant legislation.
Adherestrictly to working procedures and departmental policies both for drug supplyand security.
Complywith Trust and departmental procedures relating to Health and Safety andClinical waste management.
Participatein the weekend, evening and Bank Holiday rota

- Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
