Job Overview

David Beevers theatres are a busy, self‑contained unit at the heart of St Jame’s University teaching hospital in the vibrant city of Leeds. We provide gold‑standard, patient‑central care across a wide range of specialties. We work from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, closing for bank holidays.

This is a predominantly Anaesthetic position offering opportunities for scrub and PACU development. Main Duties

• Provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of peri‑operative care programmes for patients.
• Carry out all relevant forms of care competently without direct supervision.
• Communicate with members of the multi‑disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective teamwork.
• Assist with the teaching and supervision of learners and other staff.
• Work within an environment caring for peri‑operative patients.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of patient‑focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust guidelines and policies.
• Ensure a clean, secure and safe working environment.
• Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of peri‑operative care for patients, keeping accurate written records.
• Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
• Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the patient’s care.
• Act in accordance with the professional code of conduct.
• Participate in the theatre on‑call rota as required.
• Undertake duties in other departments as required by service demands.
• Keep up to date with developments, advances and research in individualized patient care and participate in research/educational programmes.
• Contribute to the promotion of a positive learning environment within the clinical area.
• Assist in the training and education of learners and other staff.
• Actively participate in the development of own personal development plan and performance review.
• Participate in mandatory training annually.
• Participate in the coordination of departmental activities as required.
• Demonstrate prudent use of resources.

Experience

• Current issues in health care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Level 1 or 2) OR
• Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
• Willing to undergo training as necessary.
• Ability to demonstrate and explain skills to other staff.
