We have exciting opportunities for flexible, hardworkingindividuals to join our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Cancer AdministrationTeams.

Aspart of the Corporate Cancer Team, you will provide vital administrativesupport, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensurehigh-quality, timely and patient-focused cancer care. You will play a keyrole in preparing, organising and supporting MDT meetings, helping toprogress patient pathways for those with a cancer diagnosis or suspectedcancer.

Main duties of the job

Theroles involve providing high-quality administrative support to theMulti-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) process. This includes preparing, producingand distributing patient lists for discussion at MDT meetings, accuratelycapturing outcomes during meetings through live typing directly intopatients medical records, and confidently using medical terminology.

Youwill play a key role in tracking each patients journey from GP referralthrough to treatment. This includes ensuring required datasets are collatedand accurately recorded in line with local and national standards, includingCancer Outcomes & Services Dataset (COSD), Cancer Waiting Times,Chemotherapy and National Audit data (this list is not exhaustive).

Thepost-holder must demonstrate excellent organisational, communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritiseeffectively and use their own initiative. Strong IT skills, administrativeexperience and a high level of attention to detail are essential.

Job responsibilities

Thepost-holder will be responsible for the provision of a full and effectiveadministrative and clerical support service to an MDT. He/she will also beresponsible for inputting data onto the cancer database [PPM] database systemand producing reports as required. The post-holder will be expected toarrange and plan her/his own work on a day-to-day basis within the overalldemands and priorities of the department.

Qualifications

  • GCSE in English and Maths
  • Basic computer/typing qualifications

  • Previous administrative/ clerical experience
  • Knowledge of the NHS.
  • Work experience in a health or social care setting.
  • Personal or work experience of working with diversity e.g. disabled people, people from different cultures.

Additional Requirements

  • Competent in word processing (Word 2002 is used in the department), spreadsheet packages (Excel is used in the department) and databases (Datix is used in the department).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Numerate
  • Must be willing to work within the Trusts policies e.g. confidentiality, data protection, health and safety etc.
  • Competent in using other software (such as Web authoring
