Anexciting opportunity for Band 2 Maternity Support Workers to work withinmaternity services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is now available. Leeds TeachingHospitals is a large tertiary unit with approximately 10,000 births per year.
Weare seeking enthusiastic, motivated and committed maternity support workers whoare passionate about delivering a high quality service to women and theirfamilies across the maternity pathway.
Flexibilitywith shift patterns is essential as the post includes weekends and BankHolidays. Will need to travel between hospital and community based sites as arequirement of the role.

Main duties of the job

Therole of the post holder is to undertake, under the direction and supervision ofa registered midwife or other member of the maternity team, tasks and duties tosupport the delivery of maternity care. The post holder is required to havebasic knowledge of maternity care and may carry out clinical and administrativeduties, for which they have been appropriately trained, within their area ofwork.
Thepost holder is expected to undertake a set of defined, Trust specificcompetencies following appointment to the post; including the CareCertificate. This certificate ensures the minimum standards for the role aremet. Support will be given to the post holder to further develop their skillsand explore pathways for progression where appropriate.

Tocontribute to the provision of evidence based professional midwifery services.
Thisjob summary outlines the expected role for a Maternity Assistant working atLeeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). It reflects the role which has beenagreed by all of the six Trusts within the West Yorkshire and Harrogate LocalMaternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). The post holder will be provided withappropriate training for the clinical setting in which they are working,including antenatal inpatient or outpatient care, intrapartum inpatient careand postnatal inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications
- Level 2 English and Maths, GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent
- NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience
- Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare

- DBS clearance
- Ability to work 24-hour shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays
- Able to arrange own transport for business usage (desire)
