A one-year fixed-term, full-time (10 programmed activities) position based at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role is ideally to commence on 5 August 2026, with flexibility for part-time arrangements.
Main Duties
- Deliver culturally competent and equitable genetic services across a diverse regional population, with a particular focus on the Bradford area.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, community representatives, public-health colleagues and the NHS genomics workforce to support population-level prevention, early identification and community engagement.
- Support consultant clinical activity.
- Hold outpatient, telephone and video clinics.
- Participate in urgent work and ward referral rota.
- Write and sign-off clinic letters promptly.
- Attend all stipulated departmental meetings.
- Support multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Undertake audit or quality improvement projects.
- Teach medical students and other health professionals as directed.
- Attend specialist clinics, departmental teaching activities including genomics education.
- Attend induction and comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave.
- Maintain continued professional development and develop services to enhance culturally competent care across the region.
Qualifications and Experience
- Four or more years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent part-time/flexible training) with at least two years in Clinical Genetics.
- Clinical experience within the NHS, preferably in a genetics service.
- Experience in delivering culturally competent care and working with diverse populations (e.g. community engagement, health-inequality reduction).
Working Hours
Standard working hours 9:00–17:00 Monday to Friday. Occasional early starts (8:00) may be required for clinics and MDT commitments. The role may include travel to Hull or other peripheral centres (1–4 times per month) and some days may be longer due to travel.
Salary
Salary will be based on experience and will follow the current NHS pay award for Specialty Doctors, as outlined on the NHS Employers website (subject to the 2026 Pay Award).
