An exciting opportunity has emerged for a driven practitioner to join and help shape our Vascular, Head & Neck Theatre Team at Leeds General Infirmary. We are looking for someone who brings energy, leadership and a passion for exceptional patient care.

Services Covered

  • Our Monday to Friday service includes arterial vascular surgery, sometimes combined with interventional radiology;
  • acute vascular surgery;
  • ENT and maxillofacial procedures ranging from minor to major, as a specialist tertiary centre for head and neck cancer treatment;
  • interventional radiology surgery;
  • elective MRIs.

Job responsibilities

  • Potential expansion of an additional theatre from 2 days per week to 5 in the near future.
  • Lead by example, support colleagues at all levels, champion high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
  • Develop and mentor team members, involving teaching, assessing and mentoring.
  • Communicate confidently within a multidisciplinary environment and embrace innovation and change.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification or commitment to complete one within first year.

Experience

  • At least 18 months post‑registration Band 5 experience for nurses and ODPs.
  • Current UK NMC registration and evidence of recent UK clinical practice.
  • Significant experience in vascular and/or head & neck surgery desired.
  • Experience in peri‑operative practice, clinical audit and standard setting.

Skills

  • Strong communication within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Teaching, supervising and assessing of qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Time management, recruitment and selection (desirable).
  • Clinical leadership and ability to motivate.

Knowledge

  • Insight into clinical speciality and current professional issues.
  • Standards of professional practice.
