An exciting opportunity has emerged for a driven practitioner to join and help shape our Vascular, Head & Neck Theatre Team at Leeds General Infirmary. We are looking for someone who brings energy, leadership and a passion for exceptional patient care.
Services Covered
- Our Monday to Friday service includes arterial vascular surgery, sometimes combined with interventional radiology;
- acute vascular surgery;
- ENT and maxillofacial procedures ranging from minor to major, as a specialist tertiary centre for head and neck cancer treatment;
- interventional radiology surgery;
- elective MRIs.
Job responsibilities
- Potential expansion of an additional theatre from 2 days per week to 5 in the near future.
- Lead by example, support colleagues at all levels, champion high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
- Develop and mentor team members, involving teaching, assessing and mentoring.
- Communicate confidently within a multidisciplinary environment and embrace innovation and change.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification or commitment to complete one within first year.
Experience
- At least 18 months post‑registration Band 5 experience for nurses and ODPs.
- Current UK NMC registration and evidence of recent UK clinical practice.
- Significant experience in vascular and/or head & neck surgery desired.
- Experience in peri‑operative practice, clinical audit and standard setting.
Skills
- Strong communication within a multidisciplinary team.
- Teaching, supervising and assessing of qualified and unqualified staff.
- Time management, recruitment and selection (desirable).
- Clinical leadership and ability to motivate.
Knowledge
- Insight into clinical speciality and current professional issues.
- Standards of professional practice.
