An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to take on a band 7 position within Leeds Teaching Hospital. Applications are invited for a fixed term 12-month contract as a Highly Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist - deputy lead for our Perinatal Pelvic Health Service 0.6 WTE, to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of female pelvic, obstetric and gynaecological dysfunction patients, with bowel, bladder and/or sexual dysfunctions, who will often have highly complex presentations. These include vulnerable adults and those with mental health issues. This role is mostly a perinatal and obstetric caseload.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE: To perform the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within this specialist field who may have complex physical and psychological conditions and/or chronic presentation. The post holder will play a key role in the development, implementation and evaluation of specialist physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes and packages of care. As an experienced physiotherapist, the job holder will assist in co‑ordinating the activities of the team ensuring efficient and effective service provision. He/she will be required to ensure effective communication is maintained at all times, whilst providing training, supervision and clinical expertise to qualified and unqualified staff and students. As a lead clinician in this specialist, the jobholder will act as a role model to the physiotherapy team, promoting quality evidence‑based practice, developing the physiotherapy team and contributing to the effective management of the team in the absence of the superintendent.

What you will bring to the role

  • To provide advanced assessment, treatment and management for a range of patients with pelvic, perinatal, gynaecological and obstetric conditions.
  • To manage a significant clinical caseload on a day‑to‑day basis, working with the urogynaecology physiotherapy team lead to ensure quality service delivery to the perinatal pelvic health service.
  • To act as deputy lead for the service and support clinical physiotherapy specialists/service lead for urogynaecology in developing the strategic and operational management of the physiotherapy service provided to this specialist area.

Qualifications

  • Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Member of CSP.

Experience

  • Post‑graduate clinical experience having worked at a senior level in relevant clinical field.
  • Post‑graduate clinical experience having worked at a senior level across a number of MSK clinical specialties.
