An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Outpatients Clinical Service Unit to help shape the future Robotic Process Automation (RPA) team to support our automation journey. We are looking for a focused and highly motivated individual to join the Automation team in the role of RPA Developer with a key focus to deliver automation solutions across the Trust to support Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust transformation.
This post is pivotal in providing all aspects of RPA process design, system integration and solution development including programming and technical implementation across the entire automation development lifecycle. You will be required to work across all levels of the organisation, across the five Trust hospital sites, to drive forward innovative automation solutions.
Main duties of the job
We seek an individual who has both the necessary hard technical skills to programme our automations but with additional soft skills to engage the wider Trust on beyond in the RPA concept and the benefits that automation brings, as well as to train, support and develop others in the RPA team as we grow. The role would suit someone with a proven record of complex RPA automation delivery. For the right person this is a role that is both demanding and challenging, but also rewarding as you will help shape our vision for RPA that will leave an enduring legacy.

Our teams at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust serve communities in one of the largest and busiest acute hospital trust services in the UK. Our services are a regional and national centre for specialised treatments as well as being the local hospital for the Leeds community. Job responsibilities
The jobholder will be responsible for the design and creation of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions and for the integration of these into, and between, existing systems. Providing cost-effective, risk-controlled, robust, reliable, responsive and secure automation solutions, this role will support clinical and corporate transformation needs to assist the organisation in delivering its strategy.
The jobholder will be a subject matter RPA expert able to offer training, support and development for others. Working independently and as part of the wider team, the role will include: participating in all aspects of RPA process design; system integration; solution development; authoring controls and standards; authoring of documentation; software tools design; programming and technical implementation across the entire automation development lifecycle; the creation of complex functional specifications; application programming across a range of technology platforms; and systems integration, testing and deployment.
Identifying requirements for new automation and integration applications, the jobholder will input into the robotic automation and development programme of work by recommending future developments and ensuring that robotic automation is developed in a cost-effective and professional manner, which meets the Trust's operational needs whilst maintaining system security and data integrity.
Principal Duties & Areas of Responsibility
Robotics and Integration Development Lifecycle: Communicate with project stakeholders across all levels of the organisation. This will involve discussing workflow processes and aspects of solution design with members of service delivery. Communicate technology issues in a non-technical way so the target audience fully understand any communication. Keep abreast of team plans and all aspects of the automation development lifecycle. Plan additions, deletions and minor modifications to process automations and interfaces upon Trust-wide infrastructure and implement and manage the change control process to ensure services are not adversely impacted because of change. Implement automation and integration solutions in compliance with Trust security policies. Ensure critical automation applications offer high availability, all business data is secure, backed up, archived as appropriate, and that all critical systems comply with Trust-wide business continuity plans. Ensure maximum availability of related software applications throughout the organisation. Participate in the relevant governance forums to ensure that changes and new processes are only deployed into the live environment once all required checks and pre-requisites are in place according to the change management processes. Maintain and demonstrate an up to date knowledge of industry developments and best practice standards. Provide an efficient, reliable, responsive and timely automation and integration development service. Ensure customers receive the highest quality of service measured against locally developed and agreed service levels. Work with customers to write automation and integration specifications for sign-off by stakeholders. Ensure support and monitoring tools are used to deliver and measure services for capacity planning and monthly reporting. Monitor and report on performance and applying corrective action strategies as appropriate. Test or adapt RPA applications and supporting hardware to improve workflow, staff and customer experience and patient outcomes. Ensure SLAs are achieved and client expectations are met or exceeded. Build service relationships with clients. Ensure quality and cost-effective services are performed to the agreed SLAs. Ensure that systems, processes and methodologies as specified are followed to deliver effective monitoring, control and support of service delivery. To provide reports to an agreed schedule including management and performance reports.
Support: Work with project leads on the implementation of new technology solutions, managing project deliverables in accordance with the Leeds Improvement Methodology. Work closely with the RPA team ensuring key components are delivered on-time and to the required standard.
Management of technology infrastructure for robotic automation and integration development: Liaise with infrastructure colleagues and service suppliers to deliver key projects. Work closely with the project team ensuring key components are delivered on-time and to the required standard.
Standards & IT Processes: Ensure implementation and adherence to industry best practice and standards for activities carried out within the robotic automation team, including, but not limited to: the automation development lifecycle; configuration and testing protocols; security controls and data integrity; interfacing processes; application support and maintenance; and training. Ensure that established processes and practices are followed, whilst suggesting improvements and creating, and implementing new practices as appropriate. Analyse relevant technical, professional and administrative policies as they relate to automation development and advise the Trust how these should be interpreted. Ensure compliance with policies, processes and procedures covering automation development (including, evaluation, procurement, implementation, test, release, review, decommissioning, retirement).
Lead and governance: Promote continual improvement in quality, performance and delivery of RPA objectives. Motivate colleagues within the RPA team to deliver and improve services. Assist in the development of the business and planning processes for the RPA team to deliver services to required standards and within the available resource base. Develop processes in collaboration with other departmental leads to jointly manage the delivery and development of their automation. Participate in appropriate RPA education and training opportunities that supports the workforce strategy and, therefore, the strategic aims of the Trust.
Service Delivery and Improvement: Make best use of capacity to deliver activity within the terms of the RPA Teams Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Financial and Performance Management: Ensure the RPA processes meet the required performance standards. Ensure that unplanned variation in service delivery (activity, income, expenditure, capacity, performance) is identified and appropriate, timely action taken.
Risk Management and Governance: Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that effective governance arrangements and performance management systems are in place. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that all risks are identified and included as appropriate on the CSU risk register and are progressed appropriately to reduce the risk profile.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or significant experience of working at degree level

- Proven experience of working with Blue Prism Cloud technology to deliver complex automations.
- Expert knowledge of Blue Prism RPA, iOCR, Blue Prism Cloud Cognitive Tools (language translation, sentiment analysis, keyword classification, interact e-forms, chatbot and orchestrator).
- Practical experience of managing the automation lifecycle complying to the Blue Prism best practice standards
- Experience of engaging with customers on a consultative basis
- Experience of delivering automations using key NHS applications including ESR, ERS, PAS, EPR, Trac, NHS jobs etc.
- Experience of developing solutions using Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Flow (Automate).
