We are looking to recruit a proactive and self‑motivated, Band 6 Nurse to work in the Children’s Research Team within the Research and Innovation (R&I) CSU. This post supports the delivery of the neonatal research portfolio under the leadership of the Senior Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP. The post holder will work effectively with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring very high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety and patient satisfaction, in compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation.
Leeds Children’s Research team is a highly motivated group of nurses, medics, data managers and clinical trials assistants. Based at Leeds General Infirmary, a large teaching hospital serving over 1 million people locally and up to 3 million in the wider region, we deliver care across paediatric specialties including respiratory, diabetes, general surgery, oncology, neonates and neuromuscular. Leeds Children’s Hospital is research‑active with over 150 studies ongoing and up to 850 patients recruited per year, supported by a dedicated clinical research facility.

The post holder will support the Senior Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP, Principal Investigators and associated multidisciplinary colleagues in planning, scheduling, conducting, recruiting, patient care, support and data collection for neonatal studies. They will develop their own clinical practice, maintain competencies related to the research portfolio and, where appropriate, take delegated responsibility for clinical elements of studies in line with Trust policies and study protocols. Working effectively and proactively with agreed external agencies and collaborative partners, the individual will adhere to study pathways and processes to ensure accurate, robust data capture and maintain pharmacovigilance. The post holder will ensure research safeguards patient wellbeing and follows ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, EU directives, UK Governance Framework and other relevant legislation. The post holder will act as a role model, develop the research team and manage the department in absence of the Senior Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP. During exceptional times of need, the post holder will contribute to clinical service as agreed with the Matron for the CSU and in line with the Trust’s escalation policy.
