The jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload, assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, and setting standards of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to patients with liver/renal disease, contribute to the development of the specialty service, and ensure cost‑effective use of resources.
Responsibilities
- Manage the defined caseload of patients, ensuring appropriate assessment and continuity of care.
- Provide advanced nursing expertise to patients with liver and renal disease.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary team and national networks in the development of the specialty service.
- Oversee the whole assessment process for potential live kidney donors, from first contact through to donation.
- Work closely with the MDT and receive support to develop potential and enhance service delivery.
- Provide high‑quality safe care to patients and support the renal transplant coordinator teams.
What you will bring to the role
- Registered Nurse (Level 1)
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent experience of teaching and assessment
- Evidence of continued professional development and willingness to undergo training as necessary
- Current knowledge of issues in healthcare
- Significant and recent relevant experience working as a Band 5 Staff, and nursing or equivalent post‑registration experience within a specialty
- Experience in audit and standard setting
- Compassionate and caring nature, capable of lateral thinking, and a motivator of self and others
- A positive approach to change, assertive and courageous, flexible, adaptable, and able to manage stress in self and others
