Radiographer roles within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) include cross-site plain film rotation across two hospital sites, providing excellent exposure to a wide range of clinical environments. There may also be opportunities to further develop your career through rotation into a specialist modality once preceptorship has been successfully completed.

Rotational X-ray roles within LTHT will allow you to develop a broad depth of experience across a range of specialised areas within our radiology services, supporting both your professional growth and clinical confidence.

Our well-established preceptorship programme offers a structured induction, comprehensive competency-based training, one-to-one support, and regular review meetings to ensure you feel fully supported as you develop your skills, knowledge and experience.

Continuing professional development (CPD) for newly qualified Radiographers in plain film includes red dot training, with progression to primary commenting evaluation and NG tube hot commenting. We also host curated new starter study days, tailored to the needs of preceptors, to support development and promote a clear understanding of the skills, responsibilities and expectations of working within a large teaching hospital trust.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and employs more than 20,000 staff across seven hospitals on six sites. Leeds Radiology offers diagnostic imaging to a wide variety of clinical specialties including Trauma & Orthopaedics, Oncology, Transplant Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Gastro-Intestinal, Elderly Medicine, Urology, Renal and Hepatology. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is also home to the region's Major Trauma Centre as well as The St James's Institute of Oncology housed in the state of the art Bexley Wing. LTHT are building two state-of-the-art new hospitals and Leeds Radiology will be part of the development in providing diagnostic services.

As a Band 5 plain film Radiographer, main duties will include undertaking a wide range of general radiographic examinations in the emergency department and minor injury units, as well as in outpatient and inpatient departments. In addition, duties will include performing portable examinations in the resuscitation department and on general wards, as well on high dependency and intensive care units. As a Band 5 Radiographer, you will be required to provide imaging in theatre to support services such as Urology, Trauma, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery. You will be required to use a variety of radiographic equipment to produce high quality images. Full equipment training will be provided as part of the mentorship programme, as well training on imaging protocols and standards of image quality. As a Band 5 Radiographer, you will be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidates will need to be flexible and will participate in department 24/7 shift patterns.

Qualifications: BSc Diagnostic Radiography, DCR or equivalent and be registered (or be about to register) with the Health Care Professions Council. Evidence of ongoing CPD to satisfy HCPC. Attendance at professional lectures, study days and workshops, relevant to practice.

Experience: NHS experience working in different clinical environments within radiology. Ability to use radiographic equipment for departmental, portable and theatre examinations. Applying IR(ME)R (2017) and IRR (2017). Knowledge and understanding of exposure factors and gold standard imaging criteria.

Additional Requirements: Ability to wear lead equivalent radiation protection for long periods of time. Ability to work a varied and flexible working pattern including weekends, evenings and night shifts.
