We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to play a leading role in advancing clinical and innovation within Rehabilitation Engineering. This leadership position combines clinical service delivery, research & innovation, and operational management, supporting the strategic direction of the Rehabilitation Engineering and Measurement section while ensuring excellence in day‑to‑day service provision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of Clinical Scientists and Rehabilitation Engineers, overseeing service delivery and operational leadership in Gait Analysis, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), and technical support for Specialist Rehabilitation services such as Wheelchairs, Prosthetics and Orthotics.
  • Line‑management of staff, workforce development, and succession planning.
  • Delivery of training for clinical scientist trainees and engineering apprentices.
  • Lead service improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Management of FES equipment and consumables.
  • Development and maintenance of services in line with national standards and guidelines.
  • Integration of service development into the Department’s quality management system to comply with ISO9001 quality standards.
  • Advising on, initiating, and supervising research studies.
  • Reviewing and evaluating specialist rehabilitation equipment for clinical suitability and making recommendations.
  • Investigating accidents and adverse incidents involving assistive technology equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HCPC registered Clinical Scientist with experience in Rehabilitation Engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary teams and service delivery.
  • Experience in gait analysis, functional electrical stimulation, and rehabilitation equipment management.
  • Strong knowledge of national standards, guidelines and quality management systems.
  • Track record of research or innovation in rehabilitation settings.
