The Jobholder will have responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the Antenatal Clinic/Antenatal day unit, within the Womens CSU. S/he provides clinical and professional management and leadership for the team. The jobholder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. S/he manages the administrative and financial aspects of Antenatal Clinic and ensures cost effective use of resources. The role is based at St James University Hospital with occasional cross city working at the Leeds General Infirmary.
The Antenatal Clinic and Day unit is a dynamic and rewarding area that provides specialist outpatient maternity care for women throughout their pregnancy. The team is small, supportive and highly collaborative, working closely with Obstetricians, specialist Midwifery teams, Sonographers, the antenatal wards and maternity assessment centres to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. Strong multidisciplinary working and a shared commitment to continuous improvement underpin this service, providing an environment where staff are encouraged to contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop their leadership and management skills whilst supporting the professional development of colleagues and contributing to the ongoing delivery of high-quality maternity care.
The successful candidate will have proven Leadership skills, and an ability to effectively lead the team, and facilitate the professional and clinical development of individuals in the team ensuring equal developmental opportunities. As the area of Outpatients is going through ongoing improvements, promotion of effective management of change by acting on audit and other reviews to implement agreed new approaches to improve quality of care is a requirement of the Team leader. Also, the ability to empower staff and delegate without abdicating overall and continuing responsibility for the staff rostering, ensuring adequate and safe skill mix to provide optimum care for women and their families is key. As a Team leader you will be expected to provide emotional and professional support to staff following incidents and do so in a compassionate and professional manner, and to lead standard setting initiatives, protocols and quality assurance programmes and addressing any risk management issues.
