Position: Medical Secretary / PA – Full time (37.5h), permanent – Liver HPB & Transplant Service, Leeds.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial/PA service to the Liver Clinical Lead and Liver Cancer Lead, and support our other 10 consultants.
  • Audio typing; validation of waiting lists; rota input; IPT of patients to other trusts/private sector.
  • Deal with patient queries, filing, diary management, and organise meetings.
  • Develop, maintain and manage office and information systems in support of the service.
  • Prepare agendas, take, transcribe and distribute meeting minutes, book venues and refreshments.
  • Ensure clinical correspondence and administrative tasks meet internal and national standards and targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Data Protection and confidentiality legislation.
  • Cover for colleagues during absence and work flexible hours as required.
  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, medical staff and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to RSAIII typing/word processing or equivalent.
  • Proficient audio/copy typist.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English Language grade C or above.
  • Shorthand.
  • Medical terminology.
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of secretarial and administrative experience.
  • Experience with secretarial and administrative processes and practices.
  • Diary management experience.
  • Knowledge of National Access Targets.
  • Familiarity with NHS/Trust protocols, policies and procedures.
