Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should hold accreditation in Paediatrics (subspeciality neonates) in the Royal College of Paediatrics or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.Applicants should have established skills in Tertiary (level 3) Neonatal Care and it's related specialties. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share. What you will bring to the role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our workforce.
To provide weekday Consultant cover and weeknight on call (1 in 6 alternating site) to the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary and the Local Neonatal Unit at St James's Hospital.
To provide weekend consultant led care to the two regional neonatal units within Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (1 in 6 weekends).
To provide, in conjunction with the existing consultants, supervision of neonatal care on the NICU, Postnatal and Transitional Care wards. This will require working on both Neonatal Units by rotation.
To assist in delivering the induction and training programme for junior doctors. To contribute to the effective training and clinical supervision of medical staff within the Neonatal Service.
To liaise with the Neonatal Outreach Team and community paediatric team to provide planned discharge and follow up of neonatal graduates.
