Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Leeds

We are looking to recruit a 0.6 WTE Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Paediatric Neuropsychology) in the Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), Leeds Children's Hospital. This substantive post is based at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and while it offers working time flexibilities, attendance on-site at least two days per week is essential.

The post-holder will lead the Paediatric Neuropsychology Team, which currently consists of two Principal Paediatric Neuropsychologists, one Senior Clinical Psychologist, an Early Career Clinical Psychologist, and an Assistant Psychologist. After an external review, the post holder will lead actioning the recommendations with the Head of Department and other Consultant Team Leads.

Clinically, the role involves development and oversight of referral pathways, access targets, monitoring performance and efficiencies together with the Head of Department and Business Manager. You will also offer face-to-face assessments, therapy and supervision, and as a senior member contribute to leadership, management and the strategic objectives of the department.

Main duties of the job include joining the Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), with over 38 clinicians organised in four sectors of care: Long Term Conditions, Surgery & Oncology, Cardiology & Critical Care, and Paediatric Neuropsychology. You will be line-managed by the Head of Department.

The Department is academically ambitious, with links to Yorkshire and Humber Region DClinPsych Training Programmes and the Schools of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Leeds. What you will bring to the role:

• Experience of specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings.
• Experience of providing neuropsychology within a paediatric regional neurology centre.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of children and young people (CYP) and families and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
• Further training in a specialised area of clinical practice through formal post-doctoral training (diploma or equivalent) or a combination of specialist short courses together with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice, equivalent to a postgraduate diploma.
• Experience of selecting, administering and interpreting a wide range of neuropsychological tests.
• Completion of a clinical supervisor training sufficient to supervise doctoral trainees.
• Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, including post-qualification experience within the designated specialty.
• Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients’ psychological care and treatment.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
