Are you ready to use your network engineering skills in a way that makes a positive impact on people's lives? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity to become a member of our Data Communications team within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Reporting to the Network Operations Manager, your role will focus on network implementation and providing technical support and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.

Main duties of the job:
  • You will assist on network configuration and implementation, applying your technical knowledge to solve network related issues.
  • You will work as part of our multi-professional workforce, ensuring a smooth transition to new networking technologies and maintaining reliable LAN/WAN communications.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, you will help support and implement the most effective solutions by interpreting standards and procedures.
  • You will be supported to work in implementing designs, enhancing network performance and security, and troubleshooting network issues.
  • You will develop effective and valued relationships with clinical and administrative teams, resolving network communication issues promptly.
  • You will be supported to work within established standards and best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of network services.

Person Specification:
  • Qualifications: A degree or equivalent in an IT related discipline, or equivalent experience. Attained Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) status.
  • Experience: Must be computer literate, and skilled in use of PC applications. Understanding of TCP/IP Protocols. A good understanding of Cisco Internetwork Operating Systems (IOS). A good understanding of a modern network environment. Experience of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Experience gained in a Health environment. Experience of Unix/Linux Operating systems.
  • Additional Requirements: Able to cover operational hours and willing to participate in overtime when required. Able to walk long distances between communication equipment locations and be able to lift and carry equipment for long distances.
  • Skills & behaviours: Drive, enthusiasm & a proactive approach to work. Friendly, patient attitude. Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. Able to keep cool under pressure and capable of prioritising tasks. Reliable team player, but also able to work on own initiative.
