A unique opportunity has arisen within Adult Critical Care at LTHT for 3 x Band 6 Registered Nurse / Occupational Therapist / Allied Health Professional (Physiotherapist) to join the Rehabilitation team and also deliver interventions on the critical care wards. There will be both Permanent & secondment roles available.

The role requires working within a small team to co-ordinate the day to day running of the service. This involves delegating tasks within the team, coordinating and communicating effectively with the wider multi-disciplinary team to set achievable individual goals and delivering rehabilitation interventions. The successful candidate will be supervised by the Team leader of the Critical Care rehab team and will be supported to further enhance their assessment, intervention and complex clinical assessment and rehabilitation skills with patients who are admitted to critical care.

The team is committed to providing best evidence-based interventions and rehabilitation within this clinical setting. An understanding and enthusiasm for rehabilitation is paramount to provide an effective patient-centered approach to the role as well as clinical experience working at Band 6 level.

Main duties of the job:

The successful candidate will work within a small team planning and delivering a patient centred and holistic approach to rehabilitation and recovery; improving the physiological and psychological outcomes for patients following an admission to critical care. They will be responsible for co-ordinating the day to day running of the service. This involves delegating tasks within the team, coordinating and communicating effectively with the wider multi-disciplinary team to set achievable individual goals and delivering rehabilitation interventions.

Job responsibilities:

The jobholder will play an essential role assisting the Critical Care Rehabilitation Team Leader with the continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the service. They will contribute to the provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the Critical Care Rehabilitation team. The jobholder is responsible for helping to develop and maintain the service philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. By assisting with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the service, the jobholder will support the cost-effective use of resources.

As an experienced healthcare professional, the jobholder will assist in co-ordinating activities of the team ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified members of the team. He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care/rehabilitation needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the multidisciplinary team and ensuring effective management of the service in the absence of the Team Lead.

The role of the band 6 Coordinator is pivotal in the success of the team. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate good leadership qualities, have an ability to motivate team members, have evidence of supporting change management, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to professional development and the development of the team is essential. Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills as well as clinical skills specific to this area with a structured development programme.

Person Specification:

Additional Requirements: Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for children's areas (Level 1 or 2)/ Registered HCPC Healthcare Professional
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Understanding of training needs in relation to post

Experience:

  • Aware of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines and policies
  • Clinical Experience within the specialty.
