We are looking for an individual to fill the new Obstetric & Gynaecology post at the Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital. The post includes a 1:10 obstetric on‑call commitment, which will be adjusted as the expansion proceeds. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing O&G team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Main Duties
- Leeds maternity services are a busy, research‑active tertiary centre providing regional obstetric services including specialist fetal medicine, maternal medicine and placenta accreta services.
- The LGI is co‑located with a Level 3 surgical (incl cardiac) NNU.
- The gynaecology service is predominantly based at St James University Hospital (Chancellor Wing).
- Some elective gynaecology work, including clinics, day‑case and overnight theatre and hysteroscopy, also takes place at Wharfdale Hospital.
Applicants may work full or part time and may wish to job share. If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10‑minute presentation on “My Vision for Developing a First‑Class Vulval Service”.
Person Specification
The successful applicant should hold MRCOG (or equivalent) and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at the time of interview. If currently within a training programme in the UK, all other categories of doctors must also be on the Specialist Register.
Qualifications
- MRCOG (or equivalent) and specialist registration.
- Completed SITMs/ATSMs appropriate to this specialist interest with demonstrable experience in vulval disease.
Experience
- Established skills in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- Experience in managing vulval disease.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, strong commitment to teaching and service development.
