Consultant in Vascular Interventional Radiology required to fill this replacement post within the Vascular Interventional Radiology Department joining the current team of 9 Vascular Interventional Radiologists across Leeds General Infirmary and St James's University Hospital. There is a separate Vascular Interventional Radiology on-call rota. The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.

Main duties of the job:

  • Applicants should have the skills to manage all Vascular Interventional Radiology emergencies, in line with the service provided by the current team.
  • The appointee will join colleagues in delivering a range of sub-specialty services/interventions.
  • The Vascular Interventional Radiology Team are committed to the longitudinal clinical management of patients, leading or sharing patient care across a broad range of clinical pathways.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, service improvement and a research interest is desirable.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part-time and those wishing to job share.

Job responsibilities:

  • The appointee will be expected to contribute to and develop the diverse portfolio of vascular interventional radiology services delivered in Leeds, including expansion of current and development of new services.

Objectives of the post:

  • This replacement post in vascular interventional radiology is required to meet demand for vascular radiology in Leeds, West Yorkshire and the Northeast of England, including in support of tertiary and quaternary services.
  • The postholder will be expected to contribute to the daytime and on-call vascular radiology services.
  • They will be encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest, though must maintain competence in all core vascular interventional radiology skills.

Person Specification:

  • Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Must have completed a recognised training programme in Clinical Radiology with CCT, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical Radiology.
  • Experience in performing complex endovascular aortic repair and image guided ablation.
  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research and supervision of research.
  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
  • Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
