Full time (10 PA) replacement consultant post within the Pathology Clinical Support Unit supporting pathology services to The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) and the region.

Main duties of the job:

  • Serves as a specialist in Gynaecological pathology.
  • Supports a sub‑specialised pathology service delivered in a collaborative and flexible manner.
  • Works with a team of five consultants to manage biopsies, cervical screening programme work, and complex cancer surgery specimens.
  • Provides pathology support to three multidisciplinary teams – Oncology, Colposcopy, and Hysteroscopy.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide Gynaecological pathology services to LTHT and the region.
  • Review and diagnose biopsies, cervical screening specimens, and complex cancer surgery specimens.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams Oncology, Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy.
  • Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Contribute to the use of genomic testing, IHC and FISH through the West Yorkshire Cellular Pathology Genomic Centre.
  • Engage in digital home working where permitted by departmental guidelines.
  • Present a 10‑minute talk on “How technology is changing the role of a histopathologist” for the interview process.
  • Consideration given for full/part‑time or job share arrangements.

Qualifications:

  • FRCPath (or equivalent).
  • Included on the Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at interview if in training.
  • Experience and skills in Gynaecological pathology.

Experience:

  • Experience in a specialist pathology service.
  • Experience working with genomic testing, IHC, and FISH.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
