Applicants invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST6+ equivalent) position in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a focus on Urogynaecology and Endometriosis at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Up to three posts are available. Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies or equivalent, and ideally have at least 6 months of ST6+ clinical experience in the UK. Basic Life Support training is essential. Current and valid GMC registration is required.
Job Duties
- Provide a 60% time allocation to the Endometriosis team, including multidisciplinary consultations, surgical procedures, research and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Complete full on‑call commitments at LGI or St James’ University Hospital (SJUH).
- Attend one Antenatal Clinic (ANC) session per week.
- Participate in antenatal assessments under supervision of a senior registrar or consultant.
- Assist in labour ward duties, including fetal monitoring, assessment of labour progress, and delivery management.
- Support gynaecology theatre activities and acute gynaecology procedures (including miscarriage management, manual vacuum aspiration and laparoscopic surgery).
- Attend outpatient gynaecology clinics, manage common gynaecological problems, and aid in pre‑ and postoperative follow‑up.
- Engage in research, audit, service development, and departmental teaching.
Clinical Commitments
- Consultations and counselling for complex endometriosis cases.
- Shared decision‑making and independent clinic passes for endometriosis theatre when appropriate.
- Peri‑operative planning and post‑operative follow‑up for endometriosis surgery.
- Participation in Endometriosis MDT meetings and collaboration with related specialties (colorectal, urology, pain, radiology, fertility).
- Contribution to regional thoracic endometriosis service and MDT discussion.
Research, Audit & Service Development
- Involvement in ongoing endometriosis research projects.
- Lead or co‑lead audit and quality improvement work aligned with BSGE standards.
- Publish and present at regional or national meetings.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent.
- Basic Adult Life Support training within the past 12 months.
- MRCOG Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 exams (or equivalent).
- Prizes / distinctions and research or academic publications.
Eligibility & Fitness to Practice
- Registered with GMC and hold a current licence to practise.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Advanced Life Support Certificate (resuscitation council UK or equivalent) by intended start date.
- Demonstrated ST6 level competency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Shown evidence of written and spoken English sufficient for effective communication with patients and colleagues.
Experience
- 12 months experience after full GMC registration, with achievement of foundation competences.
- Evidence of ST6 competencies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- At least 2 years experience working in the UK.
- Relevant experience in other specialties that complement a post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
