Business Manager in Leeds

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, positive, and patient-focused leader to join the Abdominal Medicine and Surgery CSU at Leeds in the role of Business Manager for the Colorectal Service. As one of the largest CSUs within the Trust, Abdominal Medicine and Surgery offers a fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are seeking a Business Manager to join our close-knit team of ambitious and enthusiastic clinicians and managers, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality patient care and drive service excellence.

The successful candidate will actively engage with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams, providing visible and effective leadership.

This role will play a key part in developing services to meet the evolving needs of our patients, while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. The post holder will be confident in constructively challenging colleagues where appropriate, demonstrating sound judgement and professionalism. A flexible and proactive approach is essential, along with the ability to respond effectively to challenges and resolve problems within a dynamic healthcare environment.

The John Goligher Colorectal Surgery Unit in Leeds is one of the largest colorectal centres in Europe, receiving over 18,000 referrals annually. The service provides comprehensive secondary care to the local Leeds population, alongside a specialist tertiary cancer service across the region. Given the scale and complexity of the specialty, the ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a business management role and be keen to further develop their expertise within a large, high-performing clinical service.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification
• Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, including a management qualification or post graduate diploma
• Career progression through continuing professional development
• Willingness to undertake training and development as identified through the PDP process
• Masters level in a related field

Experience

• Demonstrates an understanding of both the NHS culture and of the cultures of the different health professional groups
• Sound understanding of the NHS modernisation agenda to include priorities from the Department of Health, Monitor, Healthcare Commission, National, Local and Trust Targets
• Work within the Trusts Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions and Clinical Governance arrangements
