Assistant Psychologist (0.6 wte) to support the Neuropsychology team on the inpatient stroke rehabilitation ward at Chapel Allerton Hospital (ward C06). Funded until end of March 2027, the role supports the stroke clinical neuropsychology service as part of a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation consultants, medics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, nurses and health‑care support workers. The successful applicant will work alongside a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Principal Clinical Psychologist.
Main Duties
- Administer and score a range of neuropsychological tests and conduct behavioural observations.
- Deliver low‑intensity psychological and rehabilitation interventions.
- Support psychologists and other MDT members to run groups for stroke patients.
- Develop resources, maintain databases and support service‑development and audit projects, including data collection and analysis.
- Assist with writing research papers, posters and other reports.
Responsibilities
- As a member of the stroke neuropsychology team and the wider stroke rehabilitation multidisciplinary team (MDT), the role will include:
- Administering and scoring cognitive assessments and observing behavioural changes.
- Delivering appropriate psychological interventions and participating in rehabilitation planning.
- Collaborating with other MDT members to run group sessions for stroke patients.
- Maintaining and updating databases, and analysing data for audit and research purposes.
- Assisting with service development, quality improvement and publication of findings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Upper‑second class honours degree or higher in Psychology.
- Entitlement to Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Experience of working directly with service users in a health‑care setting, including those with cognitive and communication difficulties.
- Experience administering and scoring neuropsychological assessments.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with sensitivity.
