DecontaminationTechnician, Band 2. (Relief Cover) St James (SJH) and Leeds General Infirmarysites (LGI)

Weare looking to appoint 2 enthusiastic and motivated flexible ReliefDecontamination Technicians to join our friendly and hardworking team of 15Decontamination Technicians based at the Endoscopy Decontamination Service.

Thedepartment provides a decontamination service for all flexible endoscopesused across the SJH and LGI sites.

Thedecontamination team provides a service 7 days a week with shift times basedaround the needs of the service and its users.

07.00-15.00Monday Friday 10.00-18.00 Monday Friday 12.00-20.00 Monday Friday. Therelief post holder will work 37.5hrs per week and will be required to workflexible/ rotating shift patterns, and cross site working at short notice tocover for unplanned sickness/annual leave which may include weekends asnecessary.

Thepost requires long periods of standing and repetition of tasks as well asattention to detail and the ability to follow prescribed protocols. Theservice is compliant to JAG and ISO Standards and has an implemented QualityManagement System compliant with ISO 13485.

Thesuccessful candidates will be able to work as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment which requires multi-tasking and ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the changing needs of the service which includesworking cross site and flexible shift changes including support forFacilities services when requested

Main duties of the job

To meet the demands of the Endoscopy decontamination units functions whilst achieving high qualitystandards of service to our users

Requires long periods of standingand repetition of tasks as well as attention to detail and the ability tofollow prescribed protocols. The service is compliant to JAG and relevant ISOStandards and is working to implement a Quality Management System compliantwith ISO 13485.

The use of automateddecontamination equipment including Endoscope Washer Disinfectors as part of the automated decontamination processes employed within the unit.

To work in accordance with departmental policies and procedures in line with the departments QualityManagement System.

To undertake the manual clean forflexible endoscopes prior to automated decontamination and communication/escalation of any failures.

To document all daily maintenanceof machines and equipment as required.

To ensure all processes arerecorded on the electronic tracking and traceability system.

To ensure that all necessarydocumentation is completed in accordance with departmental protocols.

To carry out and record all Daily/Weekly checks in line with HTM guidance and departmental protocols.

To deliver and collect vital items to the Theatres/ endoscopy and other service users when required.

To communicate with enquiries from users in a professional manner.

Thepost holder will work as part of a team in all areas of the endoscopere-processing unit and will be expected to work flexibly to cover all shiftpatterns.

Theposition will require handling of contaminated medical devices (endoscopes),wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and the safeoperation of decontamination equipment.

Thepost holder will support the implementation and maintenance of the QualityManagement System across the service.

To be responsible for there-stocking of chemicals and disposable items required within the department.

To report equipment faults tosupervisors/managers in line with manufacturer guidelines, SOP and TrustPolicy.

To maintain records of repairs toequipment within the department.

To escalate to senior members ofstaff any faults identified that may prevent the safe reprocessing andavailability of endoscopic equipment.

To transport clean/contaminatedendoscopes between the point of use (clinical user areas) and thedecontamination unit.

The post holder will be required towork flexibly on a rotational basis to cover the needs of the service.

Working in accordance with andsupporting the quality management system.

The post holder will provide aservice for all clinical areas using endoscopes on LTHT sites as requested.
