Job summary
Wehave an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 2 Clinical Support Worker tojoin the team in the Discharge Lounge at St. Jamess University Hospital.Operating all year round, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, the DischargeLounge supports a smooth and efficient transition for patients who are ready toleave the hospital.
This role sits within the Corporate Operations CSU andplays a vital part in facilitating safe and timely discharges. You willcontribute to maintaining patient flow by supporting the discharge process andhelping to free up inpatient beds across the hospital.
Main duties of the job
Inthis role, you will work closely with registered nurses and other healthcareprofessionals to provide high-quality care. Your duties will include preparingthe lounge for incoming patients, welcoming and supporting patients ready fordischarge, and ensuring their stay is safe and comfortable. The pace of workvaries from calm periods to unexpected challenges, so we seek adaptable,quick-thinking individuals committed to excellent patient care.
Whilepatients are generally stable, some may experience changes in their condition.You will be responsible for monitoring and recording patients observations andpromptly reporting any signs of deterioration to the nursing team. You willalso collaborate with nurses to identify patients suitable for transfer to theDischarge Lounge.
Keyresponsibilities include supporting patients with personal care, mobility,hydration, and comfort while they await discharge. Strong communication andinterpersonal skills are essential, as you will liaise effectively withpatients, families, and clinical teams to coordinate care and transfers.
