Leeds Supply Service are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist college in LS9. This is a Temp to Perm role involving providing in-class and out-of-class support to students with High Needs and SEND, assisting with personal care, medical requirements, and mobility needs, and contributing to their learning and development. You will work closely with curriculum teachers, assessors, and the Learning Support team to ensure students achieve their educational goals and prepare for adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom and off-site support for students with additional needs (e.g., wheelchair users, hearing/visual impairments).
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
  • Support emergency evacuation plans and practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and strategies used.
  • Attend annual reviews and student meetings to provide updates on progress and behaviour.
  • Help students develop independent travel skills and assist with transport arrangements.
  • Participate in evening/weekend work and examinations as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (or commitment to achieving this within one year).
  • Experience working with students with High Needs or SEND.
  • Strong awareness of disability, equality, and diversity issues.
  • Clear oral, written, and IT communication skills.
  • Ability to assist with personal care and medical provisions, including wheelchair users.
  • Willingness to work across campuses and off-site visits.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to enrol in a Level 2 Award for Learning Support Practitioners within one year.
  • Knowledge of preparation for adulthood for students with SEND.
